Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs) ARBs are usually used when patients cannot tolerate taking ACE Inhibitors due to side effects that they may develop, especially the side effect of significant coughing. ARBs work by blocking access to the Angiotensin II receptors. thus preventing it from constricting blood vessels. Examples of ARBs that are used are: Valsartan (Diovan ) and Candesartan. Side effects that can occur with the use of ARBs include fatigue, abdominal pain, edema, headache, and dizziness. *Information found on this page was, in part, found on the heartfailure.org web site. |
